Kathy and Stella’s failing true crime podcast isn’t very good. For some reason Hull doesn’t seem to value their talents. But when their favourite author is murdered they sense an opportunity to go viral, rescue their podcast and solve a brutal killing while they’re at it. And that’s the plot, delivered in wonderfully silly British style with plenty of acting panache, cool tunes and comedy je ne sais quoi. This award winning comedy comes to the West End after sell-outs two years running at the Edinburgh Festival and more sell-outs in Bristol and Manchester. Now the three lead roles are being reprised by the original actors in theatreland.
Bronté Barbé plays Kathy and Rebekha Hinds plays Stella, both reprising their Edinburgh, Bristol and Manchester roles. They’re joined by Imelda Warren-Green as Erica, also reprising her role. The show has excelenbt credentials too: it won Musical Theatre Review’s Best Musical Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022, the second for writers Jon Brittain and Matthew Floyd Jones, and there’s a great creative team on board as well. There’s a Book, Lyrics and Co-Direction by Olivier Award winner Jon Brittain (Rotterdam). The Music and Lyrics are by Matthew Floyd Jones (Frisky & Mannish) and Co-Direction and Choreography comes from Fabian Aloise (Sunset Boulevard). Perfect for a laugh-a-minute night out.
