Think first, book seats second... that's the advice for this exceptional piece of theatrical entertainment that sees audiences scared stiff night after night. Prepare to be frightened, shocked, disturbed, horrified, and un-nerved, all thanks to a show that manages to keep its plot a close-held secret despite being seen by thousands and written about by every newspaper and listings website in the land. Welcome to Ghost Stories! This massively popular horror play is written by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman. It opened in Liverpool and soon transferred for an extended run at London's Lyric Hammersmith before making its way to the Duke of York's in the West End, where it stayed for a year. The Arts Theatre was next, then it fled Down Under in 2015 for an extended run plus a tour. Now it's back in theatreland.
What can you expect? We don't actually know the details, nor does anyone except the cast and the audiences who've enjoyed it over the years. Amazingly, everyone who sees it or writes about Ghost Stories keeps the stories secret, so future audiences will be as scared as they were. Isn't that remarkable. This play runs for 80 minutes, there's no interval to break the tension, and there's a strict age limit of 15 plus. You won't find any of the usual cast photos and shots of the action outside the theatre either, Just grim images and video of terrified audience members. Brilliant!
